Greetings from Rome...

CIL 2010  DAY ONE FROM BR. RAY BLIXT
The CIL Session entitled UNDERSTANDING AND LIVING LASALLIAN ASSOCIATION TODAY officially opened at 9:15 am this morning Rome time.  There are 78 participants divided into 9 language groups:
4 English Speaking (35 participants); 4 Spanish Speaking (37 Participants) and 1 French Speaking (6 participants).
All DENA representatives were present and actively engaged in meeting participants and sharing lively comments and conversation during small group sessions and during break periods.
We were welcomed by Br. Alphonso who is Director of CIL and by Br. Tom Johnson, Vicar General.  Br. John Cantwell presented an overview of the 5 week CIL program and outcomes hoped for during our time together.
Most of the first sessions were conducted in small language speaking groups) to ascertain motivation of participants and desired or hoped for experiences and outcomes from our deliberations.  I will be serving as group leader for one of the English Speaking Language groups.
Formal presentations are schedule to begin tomorrow.

It's been too good to see USA/Toronto people from over the years - from LLI or Salt Lake City or Huether, etc. And to see the variety of faces and hear the diversity of languages while sitting in the dining room.
We start in earnest tomorrow morning. Then I'm sure we'll have a lot to add!
